Business Process Documentation

How making cup of coffee describes Business Process Documentation and why it’s so important.

How was your coffee this morning (or tea for my non-coffee drinkers)?

There are many ways to make a cup of coffee.

But there is only one way to make YOUR cup of coffee. Maybe you're a two scoops of sugar type of person or a half cup of creamer type of person. 🤢

Either way, you have a preference.

Personally, I like to keep it simple! You guessed it, I like my coffee black.

Believe it or not, even black coffee can be made wrong.

You might get sick at the mere thought black coffee. Lightweight! 😂

So, how do you guarantee that YOUR coffee is made the same way every time, no matter who makes it?

Give them instructions, write it down, make them easy to find. (document the process). 😎

  1. Wash the coffee mug.
  2. Brew the coffee pod.
  3. Add two scoops of sugar.
  4. Add three tablespoons of French Vanilla creamer.

Etc…

Don't leave your coffee up to chance!

From a business perspective, give your team a place to view, learn, and improve your process.

I'm talking about Process Documentation, it is one of the most important parts of Business Process Management.

You know, like the coffee directions.

It is necessary for sustainable growth without frustration.

Documentation keeps things in order like your process maps, checklists, tutorials, document templates, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), and more.

It serves four major needs:

  1. Organization
  2. Education
  3. Standardization
  4. Improve-ability

We are all about processes here at Processology. Creating and putting processes to work for you and your business.

Are you ready to finally get your desired outcomes, the perfect cup of coffee, more family time, more sales, better talent, or happier clients?
